So, I've played two pick-up one shot games of Hot Guys Making Out, Ben Lehman's yaoi game, and it's amazed me how perfectly it works as a game you can just pick up and play very easily.
1. You need a passing familiarity with yaoi, slashfic, or at least the tiny flexibility of mind flip the typical hetero romance tropes into a gay relationship
2. A deck of normal playing cards.
3. No character sheets, no tokens, no dice, no pencils, no paper, no grids, no minis, etc.
Each "turn" you have to play a card that is equal or higher in rank, or pass. If you pass, you describe part of the scene, otherwise you can either say or do something, which is mostly limited by the types of cards you have in your hand and which character you're playing.
Basically, at any point in play, there's really only 3-4 things that could happen, and most of the time your cards will limit you to 1-2 options.
There's no skill tests, challenges, or stake setting - the cards serve mostly to pace what you can say and when, and the rest depends on your ability as a player to roll with the fiction and make good contributions.
