Jono & Sushu ran a short rpg party, and I got to play Golden Sky Stories, which I will totally buy when it is fully translated and printed in English. Everyone plays Henge, magical animals who secretly help people around town with their everyday lives, by using their magic powers or transforming into people. The game has this really interesting way it handles things in play- when you roleplay well (funny, cute, touching, whatever), other people at the table can hand you points ("Dreams"). You use Dream points to increase your relationships with various characters, which in turn, gives you points (Wonder or Feelings) which you use either to power your magic or do things with... which inevitably gives you more opportunities to roleplay better. It's like an anti-vicious cycle- you get rewarded for being nice and awesome and it makes you better at being nice and awesome. The other really cute part of the game is that you have "weaknesses", which are really animal traits. I played a lazy, skittish, and selfish cat. Wait, isn't that most cats anyway? Yeah, so the "weaknesses" were doing stuff like letting my curiosity get me into situations that would scare me, or lazing about doing nothing. And in playing out these weaknesses, inevitably you do cute, fun things that get the other players giving you Dream points. Basically, if you can think of ways to be an benevolent spirit and helpful person AND/OR do cute animal things, you get points.
